I’ve been on the non-toxic journey for a couple of years now, and I still struggle to find good options.

So, from one friend to another, I’ve compiled a list of some of the best non-toxic body wash options on the market. These options are free from harmful ingredients and are generally affordable, accessible, and easy to use.

I love Carina Organics. I’ve used their body washes and shampoos for years and have purchased their baby care line for all my mommy friends. They’re awesome! Their liquid body washes are formulated using certified organic plant, vegetable, flower, and tree extracts. There are no synthetic or harmful ingredients—not one!

As a bonus, I love that their body washes not only smell great (without synthetic fragrance!) and clean well but also soothe and nourish your skin with ingredients like pumpkin seed oil, linseed oil, apple cider vinegar, and chamomile flower extract. The body wash suds well, leaving you feeling clean without that dry, stripped feeling!

2. Seaweed Bath Co.

Seaweed Bath Co. is a unique natural body wash brand that uses Atlantic seaweed in its formulas. Its body washes are made with natural ingredients, many of which are herbal extracts. There are no parabens, sulfates, or synthetic fragrances here!

I love that they focus on genuinely nourishing the skin barrier with unique ingredients such as coconut oil (rich in fatty acids), vitamin E oil, mineral-rich French sea clay, and spirulina, which is rich in vitamins B1, B2, B3, copper, iron, magnesium, potassium, and amino acids. The body wash lathers well, smells great and nourishes your skin. I have sensitive skin, and this body wash was perfect – no irritation! The gel-like formula also doubles as shaving cream, which is awesome.

Okay, this is one of my all-time favourite brands for non-toxic body wash. Aleavia’s formulas are 100% natural and organic. Also, their ingredient lists are less than ten ingredients long! (That’s unheard of!).

Their formulas are so fantastic. They include unique prebiotic ingredients such as sea kelp, aloe vera, organic honey, and coconut oil that nourish, repair, and maintain a healthy skin barrier. Aleavia is the creme de la creme of natural body wash! It lathers well and leaves my (usually dry) skin feeling soft and silky. It also doubles as shampoo and face wash!

4. The Honest Co.

The Honest Co. really does live up to its name—its shampoo and body wash products are made with honest ingredients (botanicals and essential oils). They are free from parabens, SLS/SLES, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, and dyes. I love their subtle scents and the fact that their products are safe for the whole family, including babies!

5. Everyone

Everyone body washes are a great, affordable, toxin-free body wash brand. Their formulas are clean, free of harmful ingredients, and formulated with plant-based ingredients. These soaps are an excellent “one-and-done” bath routine perfect for kids and men (3-in-1?). This natural body wash brand gives the most bang for your buck. I love the way it cleans, the lavender scent is so lovely, and the pump dispenser just makes it so easy. Couldn’t recommend this brand more!

5. Alaffia

Another amazing brand! My favourite Alaffia scent is the everyday lavender. Alaffia is a fantastic, non-toxic brand. All of their body washes are made from natural plant-based ingredients that are gentle, nourish, and hydrate the skin, with the main ingredients of shea butter and coconut oil. Their primary focus is on providing extra moisture and hydration—and you can really tell! I tend to have dry skin, and after using this body wash, my skin feels hydrated and not stripped.

6. Puracy

Puracy body wash is an acidified formula that helps balance your skin’s natural pH. This is super important and can especially be helpful for skin irritation and conditions like eczema and psoriasis. I love how simple and clean their formula is! No harmful ingredients or toxins here!

7. Weleda

A natural, botanical, and essential oil body wash. Weleda offers several essential oil scent options (all synthetic fragrance-free!). Their formulas are free from preservatives, artificial dyes, and fragrances. They are a little more pricey than other brands on this list, but they are still a good option.

Some of their formulas do include alcohol, which can cause dryness, but maybe they will change this in the future. I really enjoy their scents, but because I tend to have dry skin I prefer other options on this list more.

8. Dr. Bronner’s

Dr. Bronner’s is a well-known natural body wash brand. It’s a pure liquid Castile soap with both scented and unscented options (with essential oils!). There’s nothing else in it! There are no additives, synthetic fragrances, or preservatives. Dr. Bronner’s is a great, inexpensive option; you only need a tiny amount, so it’ll last you a long time! Plus, it’s multipurpose, so you can use it to clean your home with natural cleaning recipes.

I love how simple Dr. Bronner’s is, it cleans well but I find that it leaves your skin feeling more “squeaky clean” compared to other options on this list.

9. Acure 

Acure body wash is a great nourishing option made with natural, plant-based ingredients. The formula is free from parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, petrolatum, and formaldehyde. Its unique feature is the addition of argan and pumpkin seed oil to help nourish and hydrate the skin barrier. I like this body wash a lot, but it didn’t wow me.

I love 100% Pure, especially their French Lavender body wash. I’ve repurchased multiple times because the lavender scent is so crisp and fresh and it just leaves your skin feeling SO soft. However, it is one of the more expensive options on this list. They offer several body wash scent options, all 100% natural and designed to refresh your skin while caring for your delicate skin barrier. If you’re looking for a luxury-feeling body wash with many scent options – this is the brand!

I love that the formula is toxin-free, kid safe and has a handy pump dispenser!

I love this body wash mainly because it contains hydrating oils like rosehip, jojoba, avocado oil, chamomile, and aloe vera to soothe the skin. These oils do great at gently cleansing without drying the skin barrier.
